Bel Giri also known Aegle marmelos, Bengal quince, golden apple, Japanese bitter orange, stone apple, or wood apple, is a species of tree native is a dried fruit found in Southeast Asia. The tree is very sacred for Hindus, it is offered to Shivalingam especially during Shivaratri. The medicinal properties of Bel are as under:
