Apart from making you wear on the correct hand and finger or as bracelet or locket, the gem is made as a talisman with the appropriate Bhasma and metal placed in it, in order to neutralize any adverse planetary effect. This is done for all precious gems. Semi precious gems do not cause any adverse results when worn correctly.
