Dakshinavarti Shankh is also known as Lakshmi Shankh or Valampuri Shankh. Dakshinavarti Shankh is considered as very rare, auspicious and beneficial as it symbolizes Goddess Laxmi, the Goddess of wealth and prosperity. There are a lot of different types of conches. Out of these, two are considered to be very important. One is Vamavarti shankh and the other is Dakshinavarti shankh. Vamavarti shankh is open on the left side. On the other hand, Dakshinavarti shankh is open on the right side. Dakshinavarti shankh has a closed mouth and therefore, it is only worshiped and does not emit any sound. This Puja is done on an original rare Dakshinavarthy shankh to attract prosperity, good fortune, abundance and success in all spheres of life. The significance of the Dakshinavarti Shankh Puja is mentioned in many ancient Vedic texts including the Meru Tantra and Skanda Purana.
