Lord Dattatreya, also known as Datta Guru, is considered the united form of Lord Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh(Shiva) and is revered, specifically in some Indian states, like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Gujrat, Telangana etc. The idol portrays Lord Dattatreya is depicted standing gracefully on a pedestal, with His Cow standing behind Him and four Dogs around Him, on the pedestal. His three heads are carved in detail, and each head has hair piled up neatly. The face of Lord Vishnu is in the middle, with Lord Shiva and Brahma's head on either side. In His upper two hands He is holding the Shankh and Chakra of Lord Vishnu, in His middle two hands, He is holding the Damru and Trishul(Trident) of Lord Shiva, and His lowest right hand is raised in the Abhaya mudra, which signifies blessings and protection. In His lowest left hand He is holding a pot of holy water, Kamandal. 

The four dogs are always seen with Lord Dattatreya, which denote the inner instincts of human beings, namely, desire, lust, expectation, and thirst.
