Krishna Janmashtami celebrates the divine birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who descended upon Earth to restore Dharma and guide humanity towards truth, love and righteous living.  

Shri Krishna represents the fullness and beauty of life. As Bal Gopal, He embodies innocence and joy; as Shyamsundar, divine love and Bhakti; as the enchanting flute player, creativity and inner freedom; as Gopala, loving care and nurturing; as Govardhan-dhari, divine protection; and as Yogeshwara, the eternal wisdom and guidance revealed through the Bhagavad Gita.  

Krishna Himself chose to be a Gwala—a cowherd—lovingly tending, nurturing and protecting the cows of Vrindavan. Through this beautiful Leela, He reminds us that our relationship with the Divine is not only about becoming stronger and carrying every burden ourselves. We may also open ourselves to being cared for, guided and nurtured by the Divine.  

This truth is powerfully expressed in the Govardhan Leela. When torrential rains threatened Vrindavan, Krishna lifted the mighty Govardhan Hill effortlessly upon His little finger and gave shelter to all beneath it. He did not ask His devotees to stop the storm; He invited them to come under His protection.  

This is the essence of Sharanagati—divine surrender. It is not helplessness, but deep trust: to perform our Dharma sincerely while surrendering fear, excessive control and the burden of outcomes at Krishna's lotus feet.  

When Arjuna was confused and overwhelmed, Krishna became his Sarathi—his charioteer and guide. In the same way, Krishna reminds us that when we seek direction, He guides; when we seek shelter, He protects; when we feel depleted, He nurtures; and when the heart opens in Bhakti, He fills it with love and joy.  

On Janmashtami, devotees worship Shri Krishna through Abhishek, mantra chanting, Bhagavad Gita Paath, Stotras, Aarti and Havan, seeking His grace and awakening Prema (divine love), Ananda (joy), Bhakti (devotion) and Sharanagati (surrender) within.

Rudra Centre Pandits will perform the Puja strictly as per Vedic rituals based on your birth details. Please provide the following in the instructions box:

• Gotra / Birth Details (Date, Time, Place) / Parent's Name
• Sankalpa (your wish or intention for the Puja)

This is a group Puja performed along with other Yajamans. You may choose to perform it in your individual name or include your family members and loved ones.   
You can watch the Puja via live streaming; the link will be shared with you prior to the start. Photos and videos will also be shared in real time during the Puja.
