Kambal Daan — the sacred act of donating blankets — is one of the most compassionate forms of charity in Hindu Dharma. It is especially meritorious during winter and holy occasions such as Makar Sankranti, Purnima, Amavasya, and Akshay Tritiya, when acts of daan are believed to bring multiplied spiritual blessings. 

In the Sanatan tradition, charity is not measured by the cost of what is given, but by the comfort and protection it provides to another life. A blanket represents warmth, shelter, and security — essentials that become divine offerings when given with faith and humility. Donating a new blanket to someone suffering in cold weather is seen as Raksha Daan (an offering of protection), and therefore carries great spiritual merit.

Blanket Donation Puja Procedure | Kambal Daan Vidhi

At Rudra Centre, Kambal Daan is performed in a respectful and traditional manner to ensure both spiritual merit and meaningful impact. 

How it is done:
1. Beneficiaries are identified from low-income families, homeless individuals, orphanages, old-age homes, or government-aided institutions. 
2. Good-quality new blankets are purchased to ensure comfort, warmth, and dignity. 
3. On the day of Daan, the Sankalpa is taken by the Pandit on behalf of the Yajman. 
4. The Rudra Centre team completes the donation and provides photos and videos to the Yajman as confirmation of the completed Kambal Daan.
