What is Kartikeya Yantra?

Yantras are intricate and powerful geometric diagrams that hold profound significance in various cultures and traditions. They are geometric representations of specific Deities/Energies like how Mantras are audio/verbal representations of different Gods. Yantras act as channels to invoke the blessings and qualities of these specific deities. The Kartikeya Yantra is a powerful tool for concentrating one's thoughts, connecting with the divine, and requesting Bhagawan Kartikeya's blessings and guidance. It is thought to magnify the spiritual energy and vibrations connected with Bhagawan Kartikeya, assisting in personal change, spiritual progress, and the attainment of desired goals. Bhagawan Kartikeya devotees can employ the Kartikeya Yantra for a variety of objectives, including seeking courage, strength, prosperity, and protection. It is frequently worshiped or pondered upon in order to cultivate traits like heroism, knowledge, leadership, and spiritual enlightenment.

The 2-dimensional diagram of Kartikeya Yantra comprises a Bindu center with the sacred syllable OM etched on it. The bindu or point at the center represents the main deity associated with the yantra, Bhagawan Kartikeya. The deity's entourage is frequently represented in the geometric parts surrounding the center, which is the focal point of convergence between the divine and the worshiper. The Bindu is surrounded by two interlocked Triangles (Shaktona) one pointing upwards which is related with the masculine energies (Shiva) and the other pointing downwards and related with the feminine energies (Shakti). It is followed by Circles containing Six petals of Lotus each in an intrincate and beautiful design. The number 6 is related to Kartikeya. It highlights his unique birth, celestial qualities, and attributes. The constellation of six Krittikas are said to have raised Bhagawan Kartikeya as a child. Bhagawan Kartikeya is associated with six fundamental celestial qualities known as the "Arupadai Veedu," which translates as "Six Abodes." These are the locations where Bhagawan Kartikeya performed great acts or demonstrated his divine powers. Tiruttani, Swamimalai, Palani, Thirupparamkunram, Pazhamudircholai, and Thiruchendur are their names. Bhagawan Kartikeya is frequently shown carrying the "Saravanabhava'' or "Shadkona," which implies a six-faced sword. This weapon depicts his divine strength, as well as his capacity to defeat foes and protect worshippers. The two circles outside the triangles depict the cosmic cycle. Time has no beginning or conclusion; it is a continuous circle of happenings. Everything, from the nucleus of an atom to the largest entities in the cosmos, is a part of the cycle. Gates open on each side of the yantra, inviting the viewer into the center of the yantra. These portals also serve as a means of communication between the heaven world and the plane of material existence. They also represent the transition between the individual's inner and outer worlds. The gates guard the center against disintegrating or negative forces. Taken as a whole, this is a perfect and splendorous geometric representation of Bhagawan Kartikeya energy.

Bhagawan Kartikeya is the son of Shiva and Parvati, and is a much revered deity especially in South India. He is known by various names like Murugan, Shanmukha (Shanmuga), Subhramanian, Shadanana, Guha, Senthil, Saravana, Kumaraswamy and Skanda. Kartikeya is quintessentially brave, intelligent, and perfection personified because of which he is worshiped as the deva of war and victory. He is also the brave leader of god's forces and was created to destroy demons, symbolizing negative tendencies of human beings. In North of India Kartikeya, also called Kartik, is believed to be the elder son of Shiva and Parvati but his devotees in South believe him to be the younger son with Ganesha being the elder offspring of Shiva and Parvati.

Kartikeya represents power and strength and worshiping him can get rid of woes and give the worshiper strength. Kartikeya destroyed the demon Tarakasur on the seventh day of his birth. He is known to be the most masculine and fierce among Hindu gods. Known for his valor and as the protector of dharma, Kartikeya has slain several demons like Krauncha, Banasura and Pralamba. He is also always youthful, which gives him the name Kumara (Sanskrit for youth). As Shadanan, Kartikeya has six heads, each standing for the five senses and the mind. The six heads also help him keep an eye in all directions so that he can combat problems coming from any direction.

As war god with six faces, Kartikeya also teaches his devotees to battle through life fighting off bad people who could lead you to the wrong path of lobha (greed), kaama (sex), krodh (anger), moha (passion), mada (ego), and matsarya (jealousy).

How to Meditate on Kartikeya Yantra? (Visualization Technique)

Meditating on the Kartikeya Yantra is the most powerful way to achieve union with the diagram. Achieving the union is said to reveal all secrets of the world and one is supposed to gain access to knowledge of higher realms. In an oversimplified sense one must recreate the Kartikeya Yantra diagram accurately in the mind and visualize it. This visualization technique may sound simple but is quite tough to achieve, one must spend years of sadhana just to create an accurate image of the diagram in their head.

One can start by sitting in a comfortable posture facing east with an accurate image of Kartikeya Yantra at their Eye Level.

Perform Pranayama Anolom Vilom (Alternating nostril breaths) 10 times & meditate to purify your mind and thoughts.

Start by focusing on the Centre Point Bindu with your gaze going inward to outward from the Bindu to the 1st Layer of the Shaktona or two interlocked triangles to 2nd Layer of the Circle to the 3rd Layer of the 6 Petals of Lotus to the 4th Layer of the Circle to the 5th Layer of the larger 6 petals to the 6th Layer of the Circle to the 7th Layer of the second Circle to the 8th Layer of the Squares at the borders of the yantra in the outermost part. These are the steps or Avaran of Kartikeya yantra.

Then your gaze should go from the Outermost Gate back to the Bindu.

Try to avoid blinking your eyes during this process. You can do this for multiple rounds for 30 minutes.

After you can focus with intent for at least 30 minutes (the stamina to just focus may take quite some time to develop) close your eyes and try to recreate the image of the Kartikeya Yantra Diagram accurately.

Once you can create and sustain an accurate image of Kartikeya Yantra in your mind try to focus one by one on the steps mentioned above and go from Bindu to Outermost gate & Back to Bindu however all this needs to be done in your mind in meditation with your eyes closed.

This visualization technique takes many years to master and bless the Sadhak with material success as well as spiritual augmentation.
