This Kurma(Tortoise) in Black Marble with polished finish, is ideal to be placed near entrance of the Puja room or facing the Shivalinga. The Kurma signifies stability and longevity. Lord Vishnu's second Avatar, the Kurma, was an epitome of patience, strength, and courage to face challenges with a calm and balanced mind. The Kurma is also a symbol of the Kundalini Shakti, which rests in the Muladhara or Root Chakra and therefore the presence of the Kurma at home is desirable for Yogis and spiritual pursuers, to help in the process of raising the Kundalini.
As per Vedic Astrology, installing the Kurma is also favourable for getting relief from ill effects of malefic Planet Saturn(Shani). This is because Shani Dev had granted a boon to Kurma, that those who worship Kurma will be protected from negative influences of malefic Shani or Saturn.
It is kept at home as a spiritual symbol as it symbolises steadfastness. Lord Shri Krishna praises the Kurma in the Bhagavad Gita, by saying that, any person who is capable of withdrawing their feelings from sense objects in the same way that the Kurma/Tortoise retracts his limbs in his own shell, is steadfast in pure consciousness.
Direction: Place the tortoise in East, facing West. If you keep in front of Shivaling, then keep it facing the Shivalinga.
