Kurma in Black Marble - III

A perfectly carved Kurma(Tortoise) in Black Marble with polished finish, is commonly placed in the entrance to the dwelling or Puja room. The Kurma signifies stability and longevity. Lord Vishnu's second Avatar, the Kurma, was an epitome of patience, strength, and courage to face challenges with a calm and balanced mind. The Kurma is also a symbol of the Kundalini Shakti, which rests in the Muladhara or Root Chakra and therefore the presence of the Kurma at home is desirable for Yogis and spiritual pursuers, to help in the process of raising the Kundalini. Lord Shri Krishna praises the Kurma in the Bhagavad Gita, by saying that, any person who is capable of withdrawing their feelings from sense objects in the same way that the Kurma/Tortoise retracts his limbs in his own shell, is steadfast in pure consciousness.
