Laxmi Narasimha Mahapuja 11th May 2024

Participate in the Laxmi Narasimha Maha Puja on the auspicious occasion of Narsimha Jayanti on 11th May, 2025 (Sunday).

Lord Narasimha is the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu who incarnated as half man and half lion to kill demon Hiranyakashipu. Narasimha is often depicted with three eyes, and is described in Vaishnavism to be the God of Destruction; He who destroys the entire universe at the time of the great dissolution (Mahapralaya). Hence, he is known as Kala (time) or Mahakala (great-time), or Parakala (beyond time) in his epithets.  

He is seen with a body of half man and half lion killing the asura Hiranyakashipu on his lap. The story goes that the asura king became powerful with a boon from Brahma because of which he could not be killed by any weapon, by person, God, demon, or animal, nor by day or night, inside or outside the home; nor in the sky, on land, in Svarga, or in Patala. He then started creating mayhem and destruction and punishing all of Vishnu's followers, even his own son Prahlada who was an ardent devotee. When challenged in palace court to make Himself visible, Vishnu took on form of Narasimha and killed Hiranyakashipu at the intersection of day and night, at the entrance to his palace, which was both inside and outside, on His lap, and using his claws which is not a weapon. Narasimha is mainly regarded as the "Great Protector," one who especially stands up for and shields his devotees from harm against all odds.  

Prayers to Narasimha empowers one with divine intuitive powers and mitigate the negative effects of Saturn, particularly during times such as Sade Sati. Many go to Lord Narasimha, who is prayed to for His protective qualities and power over evil and to ease the hardships related to Saturn.  

As Lord Shani, represents justice, discipline, and karma, Lord Narasimha also stands for the same principals for His devotees. Worshippers pray to Him for strength and intelligence to overcome obstacles and adversities and adversaries.  

Lord Narasimha's blessing can be invoked through pujas, chanting mantras dedicated to him, and fasting on Saturdays (Saturn's day). Narasimha Jayanti is the best time of the year to seek His favour.  

Goddess Laxmi is the consort of Lord Vishnu and is linked to all His avatars. She blesses devotees with progress both in the material as well as spiritual worlds. Worshipping Lord Narasimha and Goddess Laxmi together helps in purity, protection and spiritual and material growth and prosperity.
