Mandara Sheshnaag Shaligram Shila

The Shaligram Shila is a self-manifested stone that represents Lord Vishnu, the preserver and protector of the Universe and one of the Divine Trinity along with Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva or Mahesh. This Shaligram Shila is aptly named Mandara Sheshnaag Shaligram Shila because the natural impressions on this stone resembles the multi-headed Snake, Sheshnaag. Lord Vishnu is depicted in images resting on the coiled body of His Snake, Sheshnaag, in the Sheer Sagar (celestial Ocean). Sheshnaag or Ananta fans his hood above Lord Vishnu’s head protectively. The Shaligram Shila is found in its natural form in the banks of Kali Gandaki river, Nepal and possesses very high vibration frequency. Keeping the Shaligram at home corrects Vastu doshas, ushers auspiciousness, uplifts life, clears negative energies and shields the dwelling. 

The worship of the Shaligram shila bestows good health, wealth, prosperity, righteous living, material comfort, spiritual growth, success, supreme protection, a harmonious and joyful family life, relief from miseries, and abundance. Shaligram shila is known to offer happiness, prosperity and elevation in social status, as some of its blessings on the devotee. 

Puranas confirm that on the material front, shaligram bestows worldly luxuries, longevity, good health, and success while on the spiritual front, it calms the mind, clears the clutter from our thoughts if Shaligram is worshipped at home. According to the Padma Purana, the Shaligram, if worshipped with sincerity, blesses the devotee with Moksha or liberation. 

Skanda purana says that Shaligram worshipped in the Kartik month will get your blessings from Lord Shiva, Vaishnavas consider it as absolutely holy and powerful and use it to worship Lord Vishnu in his nirguna form anytime. 

The Shaligram shila is worshipped by performing the sacred bathing, Abhishek, with water and Tulsi leaves and a mixture of Cow Milk (without boiling), Curd, Ghee, Honey, Sugar. When worshipped with dedication, Lord Vishnu liberates devotees from the cycle of birth and death.
