    Nandi is the Celestial Bull, the Vahana of Lord Shiva, whose statue is found in Shiva temples, sitting outside the door of the main temple which houses the Shivlinga, with His face towards the Lingam, in submission. Nandi is the vahana(vehicle) of Lord Shiva and also the guard of the gates of Mt. Kailash, the abode of the divine Lord. He is a devout devotee of Lord Shiva and denotes wisdom, restrained power, humility, patience, protection, submission and devotion.
