Narmada Lingam with Stone Yoni Base - XIX

This divine Narmadeshwar Mahalingam is found naturally near the banks of holy Narmada River and has beautiful crystalline of gold and red. It rests on a magnificently crafted Yoni base handmade in black marble. It has a broad base which is finely crafted in traditional design and has carving of two snakes one around the Lingam and other near the Yoni passage.

Lord Shiva in form of Lingam and Goddess Shakti in form of Yoni base signify the indivisible two in oneness energy of the passive space and active time from which all beings originate. The word ‘linga’ is derived from the two Sanskrit words laya (dissolution) and agaman (recreation). Thus, linga symbolizes both the creative and destructive power of the Lord and great sanctity is attached to it. Shiva Lingam is worshipped in homes and temples. Known as Parivrdha, Lord Shiva protects all and when worshiped in Shivalingam form, He bestows peace, unity and harmony in the family and guides devotees to spiritual path. 

The most common use of the Shiva Lingam is for sacred bathing (Abhishekam) comprising of milk, water, yogurt, honey and clarified butter.  

Placement: Place the Yoni base such that it faces North direction. The west face of the lingam is worshipped.
