Om Narmada Shivling - XVI

A magnificent natural Om manifests naturally on this rare large Narmadeshwar lingam from Narmada river. Such holy marks occur quite rarely and are a prized possession for the devotees of Lord Shiva. The saffron colour Om is distinct against the dark brown colour of the lingam. It is composed of cryptocrystalline quartz which has the highest frequency or vibration than any other stone on the planet. The motion and course of the river over several years manifest into beautiful patterns on the lingam.  

Shiva lingam is a holy symbol of union of Lord Shiva and Shakti. Lord Shiva from time immemorial is worshipped in the form of linga or lingam. The word ‘linga’ is derived from the two Sanskrit words laya (dissolution) and agaman (recreation). Thus, linga symbolizes both the creative and destructive power of the Lord and great sanctity is attached to it. 

The most common use of the Shiva Lingam is for sacred bathing (Abhishekam) comprising of milk, water, yogurt, honey and clarified butter.

Placement: Place the Yoni base such that it faces North direction. Then the west face of the lingam is worshipped.
