Puja at Mahamrityunjaya Temple Varanasi

The Lord Mahamrityunjaya Temple in Varanasi is dedicated to the Lord Mahamrityunjaya (conqueror of death) form of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the devotees who pray at this temple are protected from unnatural death. Next to the temple there is a well with much religious importance. It is believed that waters from this well have therapeutic and healing properties as the water in the well is actually mixture of water of various underground streams. Another legend about the well is that Lord Dhanvantari, the father of Ayurveda had poured medicinal potions in this well and thus the water of the well is sacred and has healing properties.
