A Rare Opportunity to Receive the Blessings of Bhagavān Purushottam Vishnu and Honour Your Ancestors

Purushottam Maas, also known as Adhik Maas, is one of the most sacred and spiritually significant periods in the Hindu calendar. Occurring approximately once every three years, this extra lunar month was dedicated by Bhagavān Vishnu to Himself and came to be known as Purushottam Maas, the Month of the Supreme Being. 

According to the Padma Purana, the extra month was once neglected because it had no presiding deity. Distressed by this, it approached Bhagavān Vishnu seeking refuge. Moved by compassion, Bhagavān Vishnu blessed the month with His own name and declared it to be the most sacred among all months. Since then, Purushottam Maas has been regarded as a period of immense spiritual opportunity, divine grace, and accelerated spiritual growth.  

The Amavasya occurring during Purushottam Maas is especially powerful for worship, prayer, charity, self-reflection, karmic purification, and ancestral offerings. It is believed that spiritual practices performed on this day yield manifold merit and help devotees progress on both material and spiritual paths. 

Why is Purushottam Maas So Sacred?

The scriptures glorify Purushottam Maas as a time when even simple acts of devotion become highly meritorious. Worship, mantra japa, fasting, scriptural study, charity, service, and meditation performed during this month are believed to bring multiplied blessings.  
Worship of Purushottam Vishnu during this period is said to remove karmic obstacles, strengthen faith, attract prosperity and protection, and guide devotees towards Dharma and Moksha. The Amavasya occurring during this sacred month further enhances the spiritual potency of the period. It is regarded as an ideal time for surrendering one's worries to Bhagavān Vishnu and seeking His blessings for protection, prosperity, health, family harmony, spiritual growth, and inner peace.

Pitru Shanti Mantra

देवताभ्यः पितृभ्यश्च महायोगिभ्य एव च । नमः स्वधायै स्वाहायै नित्यमेव नमो नमः ॥ 
Devatābhyaḥ Pitṛbhyaśca Mahāyogibhya Eva Cha । Namaḥ Svadhāyai Svāhāyai Nityameva Namo Namaḥ ॥

Meaning

Salutations to the Devas, the Pitrus (ancestors), and the great Yogis. Repeated obeisance to Svadha and Svaha, the sacred powers through which offerings reach the ancestors and the deities.

This is a group Puja performed along with other Yajamans. You may choose to perform it in your individual name or include your family members and loved ones.
