This idol of Snake is brilliantly crafted from pure Silver, with shiny finish. This 5 headed snake with fanned hood rises from two and half coils of its body, ferociously. It is carved perfectly with scales, texture and other physical characteristics and is finished with shiny polish. The multiple heads on the snake is symbolic; it is used to denote protection.

Snakes hold a significant place in Hinduism and are worshipped. There are many reasons for this; snakes shed their skin, and grow it back later. This represents "rebirth", and also representing death and mortality. Snakes are a symbol of alertness. They represent the raising of Kundalini shakti, which enhances awareness and brings spiritual awakening as a result of meditation. Not just that - snakes cannot be tamed; hence, they represent freedom. It is said that the Indian mahasiddha, Nagarjuna, received his illuminating insights and tantric empowerment with the help of the Nagas(snakes) in the lake beside which he meditated.

Snakes are Lord Shiva's garland, anklets and armlets. Hindu gods like Bhairav and Mahakala are protected and decorated by snakes. Thousand-headed Naga called Ananta protects Lord Vishnu and rests on Him. Like Vishnuji many gods rest on Naga or are protected by Naga. If you look at the mythological pictures, you will find Lord Mahavir sitting with a five headed cobra behind him too. Even in the pictures of Rishis, you will find a cobra with its hood open at the back. Naga guard Hindu temples and shrines. Naga are depicted on the doors, windows and the walls of the temples. Naga are also the seat of the deity.

This Snake in pure silver can be placed on the Shivlingam, to coil around the Lingam, which represents Lord Shiva. The Lingam always has the Snake coiling it and rising above it with fanned hood.

According to the Hindu Scriptures, Naga live in the Netherworld called Naga-Loka or Patala-Loka with unimaginable riches. When the Nagas over populated the earth, Brahma, the Creator, banished them to the underworld. Naga are the children of Kashyap Rishi who married Brahma 13 daughters. Their mother's name is Kudra. Kashyap is also the father of Gods, demons and animals.

Tantra and Yoga, which are the esoteric practices in Hinduism, philosophize about serpent power inside human body. This serpent called Kundalini, depicted as a coiled snake, would be evoked by mysterious yogic practices or tantric rituals. When this serpent power is awakened ignoramus humans are said to be liberated from worldly vices. Literal meaning of Kundalini is coiled Naga.

925 Sterling Silver is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, like copper, zinc, nickel, etc. 999 silver is very soft and marred, damaged or bent more easily than 925 silver. This makes 925 Sterling Silver is the preferred choice for making idols and jewellery.

When you buy this 925 Sterling Silver idol, you will find the BIS mark stamped on it, mentioning the same. With the BIS mark on the idol, you can rest assured that this silver idol indeed contains 92.5% pure silver and you are paying for what you get.

Placement:

The ideal place to keep a god idol is on a dedicated altar for prominence and respect, in a peaceful corner of the living room for daily worship and contemplation, or on a work desk or near the entrance of home/office for spiritual inspiration.
