What is Astha Laxmi Yantra?

Yantras are intricate and powerful geometric diagrams that hold profound significance in various cultures and traditions. They are geometric representations of specific Deities/Energies like how Mantras are audio/verbal representations of different Gods. Yantras act as channels to invoke the blessings and qualities of these specific deities. The Astha Lakshmi Yantra is a sacred geometric diagram used in Hindu and Vedic traditions for meditation, worship, and to attract the positive energies and blessings of Lakshmi, the deity of wealth, abundance, and prosperity.

The 2-dimensional diagram of Astha Laxmi Yantra comprises a Shaktona (Hexagon) of two interlocked Triangles representing the primordial masculine energy (Shiva) and the primordial feminine energy (Shakti) converging together. It is encircled by eight petals of Lotus representing the seats of the eight divine forms of Lakshmi. Maha Lakshmi's earliest form is called Adi Lakshmi, and she gives spiritual wealth. Dhana Lakshmi gives money and wealth. Dhanya Lakshmi brings fertility to the land. Gaja Lakshmi brings wealth and power. Santana Lakshmi brings children. Veera Lakshmi, also called Dhairya Lakshmi, gives courage and bravery. Vijaya Lakshmi, also called Jaya Lakshmi, is the devi of battle victory. Vidya Lakshmi, whose name means "Knowledge Lakshmi," is the devi who gives people knowledge in the arts and sciences. These Eight forms of Lakshmi are etched in the outermost part of the yantra. Taken together, Astha Laxmi Yantra is a beautiful and powerful tool to get all forms of material and spiritual wealth. It offers an uninterrupted flow of material and spiritual abundance through its prosperous vibrations.

Ashtalakshmi is the name for the 8 holy forms of Lakshmi, the greatest devi of wealth, fertility, and good luck. Lakshmi is the loving universal mother and the holy wife of Bhagawan Vishnu, the supreme God of protection. She is still seen as a sign of good luck and wealth, and her name, Lakshmi, is said to mean realizing what our lives are all about.

The 8 Devi forms represent the 8 different ways that wealth can be used to meet people's wants and wishes. These include things like health, wealth, fertility, education, courage, power, children, and success, so they are important in everyone's life in this world. These Ashta Lakshmi forms are:

  • Adi Lakshmi is the mother goddess from the beginning. The Hindu master Bhrigu's daughter was a form of Lakshmi.
  • Aishwarya Lakshmi, goddess of comfort and wealth. She is shown wearing white clothes and holding two lotuses.
  • Dhana Lakshmi is the goddess of things and wealth. This is the form of Goddess Lakshmi that is most admired. During Diwali Puja, people pray to her. She is often shown wearing red clothes.
  • Dhanya Lakshmi is the goddess of food and crops. She is shown wearing green clothes.
  • Gaja Lakshmi is the god or goddess of strength and power. People say that Gaja Lakshmi brought back the money that Indra had lost. She is shown wearing red clothes and holding two lotuses. Two elephants stand around her.
  • Santana Lakshmi is the goddess of children and grandchildren. She is shown with two kalashas in her hands and a child on her lap.
  • Veera Lakshmi is the god or goddess of bravery. She is Goddess Lakshmi's most fierce form.
  • Vijaya Lakshmi is the goddess of success. She is prayed to in order to bring happiness.

How to Meditate on Astha Laxmi Yantra? (Visualization Technique)

Meditating on the Astha Laxmi Yantra is the most powerful way to achieve union with the diagram. Achieving the union is said to reveal all secrets of the world and one is supposed to gain access to knowledge of higher realms. In an oversimplified sense one must recreate the Astha Laxmi Yantra diagram accurately in the mind and visualize it. This visualization technique may sound simple but is quite tough to achieve, one must spend years of sadhana just to create an accurate image of the diagram in their head.

One can start by sitting in a comfortable posture facing east with an accurate image of Astha Laxmi Yantra at their Eye Level.

Perform Pranayama Anolom Vilom (Alternating nostril breaths) 10 times & meditate to purify your mind and thoughts.

Start by focusing on the Centre Point Bindu with your gaze going inward to outward from the Bindu to the 1st Layer of the Shaktona or two interlocked Triangles to the 2nd Layer of the Circle to the 3rd Layer of the 8 petals of Lotus to the 4th Layer of the Squares in the outermost part. These are the steps or Avaran of Astha Laxmi yantra.

Then your gaze should go from the Outermost Gate back to the Bindu.

Try to avoid blinking your eyes during this process. You can do this for multiple rounds for 30 minutes.

After you can focus with intent for at least 30 minutes (the stamina to just focus may take quite some time to develop) close your eyes and try to recreate the image of the Astha Laxmi Yantra Diagram accurately.

Once you can create and sustain an accurate image of Astha Laxmi Yantra in your mind try to focus one by one on the steps mentioned above and go from Bindu to Outermost gate & Back to Bindu however all this needs to be done in your mind in meditation with your eyes closed.

This visualization technique takes many years to master and bless the Sadhak with material success as well as spiritual augmentation.
