Soma - The moon in Bronze - I

This idol made in shining Bronze features God Soma, the ruler of Moon planet and one of the Navagrahas (nine astrological planets). Crafted by South Indian artisans, God Soma is portrayed as a man decked with jewels, standing on a beautiful dais. He has right hand in Abhay mudra and left hand in Varad mudra and holds Lotus in His upper hands. A crescent moon is beautifully placed at the back of His head. The idol looks charming due to graceful design showcasing the physical features and clothing. Soma, also known as Chandra rules the planet Moon. Soma affects personality, temperament, mental and emotional balance. He governs the mind, water element, the colour white, Monday (weekday).
