About Decorative Pooja & Aarti Thali

What is pooja thali?

A pooja Thali is a plate or a dish that is specifically designed to keep various puja articles like the haldi-kumkum container, diya, akshata, handbell, panchpatra, incense stick holder, and a kalash. This plate is often used while we worship the deities during a puja ceremony or an aarti. During a puja ceremony, the sadhak/worshipper stands in front of the deity idols which are kept in the puja altar and moves the puja thali on which all the above-mentioned Pooja articles are kept in a circular motion by holding the puja thali with both hands.

How to arrange a pooja thali

According to ancient texts, a pooja thali must comprise five essential elements which are the Fire (Agni), Earth (Prithvi), Water (Jal), Wind (Vaayu) and Ether. Let us see how to correctly arrange the Pooja thali

  • Place the powders like Kumkum and turmeric on the right side of the puja thali
  • Shendur, gulal or bukka which are orange, pink and black coloured powders they must be placed on the left side of the plate
  • Flowers, incense sticks and perfume bottle must be placed on the front side of the puja plate as these articles help to attract the deity frequencies
  • Place the akshata in the centre of the puja thali and besides it place the Diya

These elements attract the divine properties of the deities and bless them abundantly.

How to clean & maintain puja thalis?

The pooja thalis that we offer are made of different metals, materials and a few of them are decorated beautifully with Meenakari work hence the cleaning process of each of the thalis we offer.

  • Cleaning Silver Thali and articles
Never wash the Silver vessels with hard detergent. Wash the silver vessels with a mixture of milk and water and with ash. Rinse with plain water. Once this is done pat the vessel dry with a cloth and put camphor cubes in it to prevent stains and then wrap the vessels with tissue paper or cloth
  • Cleaning copper thali and articles
Clean the copper vessels with lemon and salt by scrubbing the salted cover lemon on it. You can also wash it with vinegar and then rinse it with clean water and pat it dries with a cloth
  • Cleaning Steel and Stainless-Steel thali and articles
You can wash these utensils with dishwashing soap and then allow them to dry and then store them in a dry place
  • Meenakari Thali and articles
Clean these puja thalis gently with a dry cloth allowing all the left-over spilled puja samagri to fall off the plate. Now rinse it gently under water and pat it dry.
