Bhairav Locket in Panchdhatu

Lord Bhairav is the fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva associated with annihilation. The term Bhairava means "Terrific".

Bhairava's eight manifestations are Kala Bhairava, Asitanga Bhairava, Samhara Bhairava, Ruru Bhairava, Krodha Bhairava, Kapala Bhairava, Rudra Bhirava and Unmatta Bhairava.

Bhairava is conceptualized as the Guru of the planetary deity Saturn.

Lord Bhairav's worship is very useful for winning over enemies, success and materialistic comforts. It is very easy to please lord Bhairav by doing normal worship daily. Lord Bhairav guards the temple of Lord Shiva and due to this fact, he is also known as "kotwal" (Guard). He is often shown accompanied by a dog.

Lord Kala Bhairava is also the guardian of travellers and protects them.
