This Brass Shankh (conch) is exquisitely carved with the Divine Mother, Maa Durga, in her Mahisasurmardini (slayer of the demon Mahisasur) form . The expression of Maa Durga and Mahisasur are depicted aptly. The Shankh is covered with beautiful designs all over its body.
As per Hindu mythology, Mahisasur (the buffalo demon) was a demon who was plundering the Devlok (world of Gods and Goddesses). Mahishasura had gained the boon that no male personality could kill him. The Supreme Trinity (Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva), with their combined power created Maa Durga or 'Shakti' to kill Mahisasur.
In a fierce battle against Mahishasura, Goddess Durga defeated and killed the evil demon. The name Mahisasurmardini was attributed to her since then. Maa Durga protects her devotees with her invincible protection.
This irresistibly beautiful brass Shankh with Mahisasurmardini can be kept at home or workspace for blessings of Maa Durga's protection and grace and can also be a thoughtful gift.
