Originally found in the islands of the Indian Ocean, the Cowry shells are considered to be auspicious and divine. According to the ancient beliefs, Kauris are considered to bring wealth and all round prosperity. According to Hindu mythology, "Cowrie" or "Cowry" is one of the auspicious objects that emerged during the "Samudra Manthan" along with "Lakshmi" and other divine entities. In ancient times, Cowrie was used as currency and was also used in ornaments. According to Hindu Shastras, "Cowrie" is associated with Goddess Maha Lakshmi and Lord Shiva.
