Khus Powder for Abhishek

Derived from vetiver roots, Khus powder holds a high value in Hindu rituals. Khus powder is mostly used in puja rituals like Abhishek and homa ceremonies. Khas is known for its cooling properties and are used in following ways: 

Abhishek (Ritual Bathing): Khus powder is mixed with either water or milk. It is used to create a fresh fragrance and then used for Abhishek of deities. Sacred idols are bathed for purification with this mixture. The cooling effect of Khas calms the mind and spirit of both the deities and devotees. 

Homa (Fire Ritual): Khus powder is used in the sacred fire of Homa ceremony. The divine aroma released from the fire purifies the surroundings.
