Maa Kamala Puja and Yajna

Maa Kamala is the tenth of the Das Mahavidyas and represents the fullness, abundance and auspiciousness of Divine Shakti. She is closely related to Maa Lakshmi and embodies prosperity not just as material wealth, but as the flourishing of life in harmony with Dharma.

Maa Kamala is beautifully depicted seated upon a lotus, surrounded by elephants and radiating abundance and grace. The lotus is central to Her symbolism. Though it grows from mud, it rises above the water and blossoms without being stained by its surroundings. It represents the possibility of living fully within the material world without becoming inwardly bound by it.

As the final Mahavidya, Kamala brings the journey of the ten Wisdom Goddesses towards fullness. She teaches that spirituality does not necessarily demand rejection of prosperity, beauty or worldly fulfilment. Rather, these become sacred when enjoyed with gratitude, wisdom and non-attachment.

Her worship is traditionally undertaken for prosperity, abundance, harmony, fertility, well-being and fulfilment in worldly and spiritual life.

In certain astrological traditions, Maa Kamala is associated with Venus (Shukra), the planet connected with beauty, comforts, relationships and material prosperity.

Esoteric Significance of Maa Kamala

Maa Kamala represents abundance without attachment. Her lotus teaches the seeker how to participate fully in life while remaining inwardly free. Wealth, relationships, beauty and success need not become obstacles to spirituality when they are approached with awareness and Dharma. Kamala therefore represents true prosperity as a state in which outer abundance is accompanied by inner contentment. Her wisdom is not simply to possess more, but to recognise abundance, honour it and allow it to flow through life without becoming possessed by it.
