Maha Varaha Roopam Shaligram

The Maha Varaha Roopam Shaligram is an extraordinary Giant Shaligram Shila from Gandaki river in Nepal that embodies the Varaha Avatar of Bhagwan Vishnu.  It has white and gold streaks running across its whole body that make this Sila extremely divine and auspicious. The Varaha Avatar, depicted as a divine boar, lifted the Earth (personified as the goddess Bhudevi) from the cosmic ocean where she was submerged by the demon Hiranyaksha, symbolizing the restoration of stability, fertility, and cosmic order.   

Gandaki River in Nepal is known for its sacred stones, Shaligram, which is worshipped by Hindus, especially by Vaishnavites, as it represents Bhagwan Vishnu.   

Shaligram has a riveting story. According to the legends, there was a demon named Jalandhar who had immense power because of the chastity and love of his wife Vrinda. Vrinda was a pious devotee of Bhagwan Vishnu. To defeat Jalandhar, Bhagwan Vishnu took the form of Jalandhar and broke her abstinence, which diminished the powers of Jalandhar. Thus, he was defeated by Gods. When Vrinda discovered the deception, she was heartbroken and cursed Vishnu to turn it into a black stone. Due to her intense devotion and purity, she also became the Tulsi plant. Vishnu accepted the curse and turned into the Shaligram stone. From then on, Shaligram stones are considered sacred manifestations of Vishnu, and the Tulsi plant is revered and used in the worship of Vishnu. 

These sacred stones are worshipped as manifestations of Lord Vishnu, symbolizing his eternal presence and the divine play of cosmic justice. 

This highly rare Shaligram is one of its kind, as it weighs 52 kgs, and it is nearly impossible to find such a Shaligram with such radiance and having prominent crystalline lines running across it.   

The shape of this Shaligram mirrors the celestial form of Varaha, with distinct contours resonating with the depiction of the boar-headed deity. Worshipping this Shaligram is said to invoke the blessings of Vishnu, providing protection, prosperity, and spiritual growth to the devotee.
