Purpose of Neelkanth Puja

Neelkanth meaning the one with a blue throat, is an aspect of Lord Shiva who is the Supreme protector. The legend says that when the churning of oceans – Samudra Manthan - took place in the month of Shravan, fourteen different types of exotic items came out came out. Thirteen of these were distributed amongst the demons, except Halahal (poison). Lord Shiva drank the Halahal and stored it in his throat. Hence the name Neelkantha (meaning blue throat) is attributed to Shiva. To reduce the strong effect of poison, Lord Shiva wore the crescent moon on his head. All the Gods, thereafter started offering Ganges water to cool Lord Shiva and to alleviate the ill effects of the poison. Since, this happened in the month of Shravana, Shiva devotees offer Abhishekam (ritual bathing) to Lord Shiva in this month. By the power of Lord Neelkanth, sick become well, the unmarried find ideal mates, debts are removed, wealth & power is showered and death is evaded. Through worship of Lord Neelkanth, one is blessed with protection, health, wealth and prosperity.

Neelkanth Mahadev Mantra:

Om Tryambakāya Namaḥ Nīlakaṇṭhāya Harāya Namaḥ 
Kālāntakāya Mṛḍāya Sharvāya Namo Namaḥ

Transliteration:

ॐ त्र्यम्बकाय नमः नीलकण्ठाय हराय नमः। 
कालान्तकाय मृडाय शर्वाय नमो नमः॥

Neelkanth Mahadev Mantra Meaning:

"I bow to the three-eyed Lord, Neelkantha, the remover of sorrows. I offer salutations to Him who ends the cycle of time, the compassionate one, the destroyer—Shiva."

This mantra is a composite of Shiva’s names—Tryambaka (three-eyed one), Neelkantha (blue-throated one), Hara (the remover), Kalantaka (ender of time), Mrida (the compassionate), and Sharva (the destroyer).

You may connect with the Pandit during the puja (video or phone call) on WhatsApp or Skype and watch the rituals live. Puja Tokri consisting of energized Items will be shipped to the Yajman/Participant on their given address. These Items have been used & energized in the puja and hold on to the energy of mantra chanting & rituals.
