Surya Kurma Nandi Shaligram Shila

This Shaligram Shila is named Surya Kurma Nandi Shaligram Shila and is apt to worship at home for the merits it brings. The Shaligram Shila represents Lord Vishnu and it has been worshipped since ancient times. Sun is the giver of life. It is also the provider of vitality and power. The Sun represents self-realization and is the planet that directs us. Kurma is the Tortosie Avatar of Lord Vishnu who offered His back as the sturdy base for Mount Mandara, the Churning stick, during the legendary Samudra Manthan. Lord Kurma blesses with good luck, longevity, courage and stability. Nandi, the Bull, is the vahana (vehicle) of Lord Shiva and also the gatekeeper of Mt. Kailash, the abode of Lord Shiva. Though the Bull has tremendous physical power, Nandi sits in surrender mode, with His tail tucked below Him, but stays alert for Lord Shiva’s command.
