The Goddess of wealth, Goddess Lakshmi is associated with the Amla tree and in the month of Marga Shirsha which between November/December, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped with the leaves of this divine Amla tree.

Amla is known as Indian gooseberry in English and its tree is generally small having leaves which are of leathery texture. The fruits that this tree bears is round, fleshy and pale green in colour.
