Fishes are associated with the planet Jupiter. The act of feeding fish aids in maximizing the benefits and minimizing the negative effects of Jupiter. Feeding fishes also helps attract auspiciousness and blessings of protection. All around the world, people feed animals for joy, happiness, and fulfillment, but in Hindu culture and ethos, the act has special prominence.
