The ninth and final day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Navdurga. Her name means “the Giver of Siddhis”—Siddhi referring to spiritual accomplishments or perfected abilities, and Datri meaning the giver or bestower. Maa Siddhidatri represents the culmination of the Navdurga journey, where the seeker moves from effort and purification towards Divine grace, fulfilment and spiritual completeness.
Traditional accounts describe Maa Siddhidatri as the Goddess who bestows Siddhis upon Devas, Rishis and devoted seekers. She is also intimately connected with Lord Shiva; according to tradition, through Her grace Shiva attained the Ardhanarishvara form, in which Shiva and Shakti are revealed as inseparable aspects of one reality.
She is generally depicted seated upon a lotus, with four arms holding sacred objects including the Chakra, Shankha, Gada and lotus. Her peaceful form represents fulfilment, perfection and the grace that arises when the distinction between the seeker and the Divine begins to dissolve.
In the chakra-based understanding of Navdurga worship, Maa Siddhidatri represents the culmination of the inner journey—the state in which consciousness moves beyond striving towards completeness and union.
After grounding, discipline, courage, opening, purification, discernment and surrender, the seeker comes to recognize that the highest attainment is not merely the acquisition of powers or accomplishments, but realization of one's deeper spiritual nature.
Her worship therefore represents completion—the movement from becoming towards Being.
