Maa Tripura Sundari (Shodashi) Puja and Yajna

Maa Tripura Sundari, also known as Shodashi and Lalita, is the third of the Das Mahavidyas. She represents divine beauty, bliss, harmony and the fullness of consciousness. Her name means “The Beauty of the Three Worlds,” signifying the Supreme Shakti whose beauty and presence pervade all levels of existence.

Unlike the fierce forms of some Mahavidyas, Maa Tripura Sundari appears serene and radiant. She is closely associated with the profound tradition of Sri Vidya and the Sri Chakra, one of the most sacred Yantras in Shakta worship.

She is traditionally depicted seated upon a throne, holding a sugarcane bow, five flower arrows, a noose and a goad. These carry deep symbolism relating to the mind, senses, attraction and the direction of consciousness.

Her worship is undertaken for harmony, fulfilment, prosperity, spiritual wisdom and the experience of Divine grace.

In certain astrological traditions, Maa Tripura Sundari is associated with Mercury (Budha). Planetary correspondences, however, can differ between traditions.
