Mogra Flower

The Mogra flower is a variety of Jasmine. 

It is one of the fragrant flowers that is used in Hindu worship. Strong and lovely long lasting fragrance along with milky white color makes it a suitable flower to offer to Gods as well as for personal use. It may be offered to all kinds of Gods but Shiva, Vishnu, Saraswati and Surya are specially worshiped with this flower. 

The flower itself is very durable, and stays fresh for a long time, even in hot climates. It continues to exude perfume for a day after being plucked. 

Mogra is also well respected for its medicinal properties. Aroma therapists use mogra as a healing and calming influence. The roots and leaves are used in decoctions for relieving sore eyes.
