Sahasra Chandi Paath is regarded as the most powerful, elaborate Puja and Yagna dedicated to Goddess Durga, Chandi or Shakti. During the Sahasra Chandi Paath and Yagya, Durga Saptasathi, also known as Devi Mahatmya which is highly glorified in various Vedic scriptures is recited 1008 times along with Mantra Japa & Homa and many other rituals. The sacred text contains 700 (saptashata - seven hundred) verses, arranged into 13 chapters. The Divine hymn of Devi Mahatmyam invokes the Divine Goddess, glorifies Her and requests Her for blessings of wish fulfillment both material and spiritual. What is Samputith Sahasra Chandi Paath? Difference between Samputith Sahasra Chandi Paath& Regular Sahasra Chandi Paath?

The word ‘Samputit’ is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Samput’ which means a ‘covering’ or a shield that has the power to bring together the divine energy in order to get immediate effects. A Samput is chanted or recited before and after every mantra or a path to enhance its power and offer quick results. It is like a capsule that holds together the medicine powder inside it safely. Samput can be in the form of mantra or a chaupai (quatrain verses). A Samputith Sahasra Paath comprises of Vedic rituals where a specific mantra or path is recited before and after every path or mantra to increase the power and divinity of the Yagna or Homa. A Samputit Path may vary depending upon the sankalp stated by the Yajman to perform the Sahasra Chandi puja. Depending upon the sankalp, a Samputith Mantra or path is recited.
