What is Navgraha Yantra?

Yantras are intricate and powerful geometric diagrams that hold profound significance in various cultures and traditions. They are geometric representations of specific Deities/Energies like how Mantras are audio/verbal representations of different Gods. Yantras act as channels to invoke the blessings and qualities of these specific deities. The Navgraha Yantra is a sacred instrument and the most powerful among all other Planetary or Astrological Yantras as it carries the combined powers of all the Nine Planets. The magnificent Navgrah Yantra benefits by relieving from malefic effects, Doshas of planets and on installing and worshiping, bestowing the blessings of all the Planets, or their respective deities. It enhances the effect of well-placed or strong planets in the birth chart.  To get the maximum benefits it should be placed in the suitable direction of the space, in which it is to be ideally kept and worshiped. The sacred Mandala or geometry of the nine deities or Planets ward off negative energies and bring in positive energies of abundance, happiness, good health and peace.

The 2-dimensional diagram of Navgraha Yantra comprises nine small squares, each of which has certain numbers engraved or embossed on it that are arranged in a symmetric manner that resonates with the powers and positive frequencies of all these Planets. These numbers are in alignment with the Planet to which that particular square belongs. The numbers of each planet in their particular square of the Navagraha Yantra, make a mathematical design and interestingly, no matter whichever way you add the numbers, whether vertically, diagonally or horizontally, the sum total of the numbers remains constant. Each of these Squares is accompanied by the etched depiction of the corresponding planetary deity in 3 rows and 3 columns thus making a total of the Nine planets in Vedic astrology. Taken together, this is an immensely powerful yantra that harmonizes the effects of all the planets in the natal chart after installation and with time, bringing the user closer to the realization of his vital potential, leading to Self-Realization.

Navgraha refers to the nine celestial bodies or celestial influences that are thought to have a significant impact on human lives and destinies in Vedic astrology. "Nav" means "nine," and "graha" means "planet" or "celestial body" in Sanskrit.

The Navgrahas are composed of the following celestial bodies:

Surya (Sun): The Sun symbolizes vitality, energy, willpower, and individuality. It has an impact on aspects of self-expression, leadership, and father figures.

The Moon (Chandra) represents emotions, instincts, and the mind. It has an impact on one's mood, intuition, nurturing qualities, and the maternal figures in one's life.

Budha (Mercury): Mercury is the planet of intellect, communication, and analysis. It has an impact on learning, speech, writing, and business ventures.

Venus (Shukra): Venus is the planet of love, beauty, creativity, and pleasure. It has an impact on relationships, artistic endeavors, luxury, and material comforts.

Mangal (Mars): Mars represents bravery, energy, aggression, and passion. It has an impact on actions, assertiveness, conflict resolution, and physical strength.

Jupiter (Guru): Jupiter represents wisdom, expansion, and knowledge. It has an impact on spirituality, education, fortune, and religious beliefs.

Saturn (Shani): Saturn is the planet of discipline, responsibility, and karma. It has an impact on hard work, obstacles, maturity, and life lessons.

Rahu (North Lunar Node): Rahu is a shadow planet that symbolizes ambition, desires, and worldly attachments. It has an impact on one's career, obsessions, and unconventional thinking.

Ketu (South Lunar Node): A shadow planet, Ketu represents spirituality, detachment, and karma. It has an impact on spiritual development, introspection, and unusual experiences.

The positions of these nine heavenly bodies in the sky at the time of a person's birth are examined in astrological charts in order to make forecasts about their lives and recommend solutions to problems that may arise.

How to Meditate on Navgraha Yantra? (Visualization Technique)

Since the Navgraha Yantra has multiple diagrams it is advisable to first and foremost meditate on any one diagram so you can achieve union with it. The diagram can be selected based on the principle you wish to manifest in your life; for instance, if you wish name and fame or become wealthier you can meditate on Surya or Shukra yantras, whereas if you desire a boost in both your communication power and career you can meditate on Budha, Shani and Rahu yantras. If you want more emotional stability and support you can contemplate on Chandra yantra or if you want to get rid of constant hurdles in life you can meditate on Ketu yantra first.

The meditation technique for each individual yantra is identical to that used for each yantra individually, be it geometric or numerical.

One can start by sitting in a comfortable posture facing east with an accurate image of Navgraha Yantra at their Eye Level.

Perform Pranayama Anolom Vilom (Alternating nostril breaths) 10 times & meditate to purify your mind and thoughts.

To meditate on numerical diagrams, start by focusing on each of them from left to right in all the presiding deities of all the nine planets, by fixing your gaze in their corresponding numerical Squares. Meditating on the Navgrah Yantra helps to be one with and align with the energy of the Nine Planets. To meditate on the Navgraha Yantra, install the Yantra in your eye level and focus on it. Begin for the 1st Square on the upper left to the 2nd Square on the middle to the 3rd Square on the upper right to the 4th Square in the second row of the left to the 5 th  Square on the middle to the 6th Square on the right to the 7th Square on the bottom left to the 8th Square on the middle to the 9th Square on the bottom right. Once this is done, move your gaze back from the 9th Square to the 1st Square. These are the steps or Avaran of Navgraha numerical yantra.

To meditate on geometrical diagrams, start by focusing on the Centre Point of the yantra with your gaze going from inward to outward. Focus on each Avaran (step) of the diagram and spend some time focusing on its shape, curvature, diagram. Once you reach the outermost gate or step start shifting your gaze from outwards to the center point inwards

Try to avoid blinking your eyes during this process. You can do this for multiple rounds for 30 minutes.

After you can focus with intent for at least 30 minutes (the stamina to just focus may take quite some time to develop) close your eyes and try to recreate the image of the Navgraha Yantra Diagram accurately.

Once you can create and sustain an accurate image of Navgraha Yantra in your mind try to focus one by one on the steps mentioned above and go from the first square to the ninth square and back to the first square, however all this needs to be done in your mind in meditation with your eyes closed.

This visualization technique takes many years to master and bless the Sadhak with material success as well as spiritual augmentation.
