The Essential Oils are made by the Distillation process, which provides the purest form of plant oil, Herbs and Trees. These Aroma Oils or Essential Oils are used in Diffusers as Diffuser oils. A few drops are mixed with water and put in the Diffuser, then the aroma or scent of the oil spreads throughout the space, filling the dwellers' or the user's senses and easily blending with the blood. Aromatherapists advise their clients on which essential oils will be most effective in healing their physical, mental, or emotional problems, as well as directions for the inhalation or smelling process, with the most common method being the use of a diffuser or humidifier. As a result, the Aroma combines with the Blood fast.
Other Aromatherapy methods include using Essential Oils in bath water, bath salts, inhaling through a steam inhaler, and also methods that allow the Oils to be easily absorbed in the skin because they are concentrated. They are combined with Carrier Oils such as Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Sunflower Oil, Jojoba Oil, and others. Using Essential Oils directly on the skin may cause allergies, so a patch test should be first conducted. It should be noted that the application of Essential Oils for Aromatherapy, if advised to use on the skin, should be mixed with a Carrier Oil.
How Aromatherapy works
When we smell the fragrance of flowers, it makes us feel happy and stirs our emotions; when we apply our favorite perfume, it also improves our mood in addition to making us smell pleasant. Aromatherapy relies solely on the healing effects of the fragrant essential oils of potent plants, herbs, and flowers. The concentrated aroma oils emit molecules that stimulate our olfactory nerves, which then send signals to the brain, which then releases hormones and chemicals that have a therapeutic effect on various parts and organs of our body, including our emotions. Aromatherapy also employs the use of Aromatherapy Oils, which should be administered in accordance with an Aroma therapist's recommendations.
SIGNIFICANCE AND HISTORY OF AROMATHERAPY
Aromatherapy has been used by ancient Egyptians in various mediums such as perfumes, incense, etc., and they are credited with inventing the method of distillation for making Essential oils from Cinnamon, Cedar wood and other natural herbs. They also used natural Aromatic Essential Oils for embalming the Mummies, for the purpose of preservation. But even before that, some evidences in Cave paintings show that Aromatherapy may have existed as long as 20,000 years ago. Its noteworthy that Hippocrates, known as the 'Father of Medicine' was aware of the power of Aromatherapy and its therapeutic value. Ancient Greeks and Romans were fans of Aromatic baths and massages, though the terminology was not used then.
However, the term Aromatherapy was coined recently by a French Chemical Engineer named Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, approximately around 1935, who after accidentally burning his hand claimed that he had healed it with Lavender Essential Oil. The study of Essential Oils and their healing properties have been a subject of research even in the 1900s, especially in France which was a premier perfume production center, using the distillation method. The ancient Chinese too used Aromatic Oils for the purpose of soothing nerves while taking massage. In fact, the Chinese Emperor, called Yellow Emperor, had recorded his research of about 300 plants and herbs and their properties for therapeutic use, which is still referred to in modern times. India, Pakistan and Afghanistan were other locations where Aromatherapy had been practiced in until date. The study of Essential Oils and their healing effects and properties for Aromatherapy continues.
