What is Shree Yantra?

Yantras are intricate and powerful geometric diagrams that hold profound significance in various cultures and traditions. They are geometric representations of specific Deities/Energies like how Mantras are audio/verbal representations of different Gods. Yantras act as channels to invoke the blessings and qualities of these specific deities. Shri Yantra aka Sri Chakra is one of the most powerful diagrams described in Sri Sukta in Rig Veda, Svetashvatara Upanishad and many other books written by Hindu Saints. In Sanskrit Shree means wealth/prosperity & Yantra means instrument, Shree Yantra is used in Shri Vidya Sadhana and can help one manifest immense wealth, prosperity, abundance, growth in all spheres of life.

The 2-dimensional diagram of Shree Yantra comprises of 9 interlocked triangles in which 4 point upwards representing Lord Shiva (Purusha/Divine Masculine) & 5 downward Triangles representing Shakti (Adi Parashakti/Divine Feminine) emanating from a Bindu (Centre Point) which symbolizes the creation & evolution of the Universe and hold the energies of all Gods & Goddesses. In total there are 43 triangles created from the 9 interlocking triangles. The three points of the triangle represent Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh which derive their energy from Shakti. These triangles are surrounded by a layer of 8 Lotus Petals representing the 8 Siddhis (Powers) namely Anima, Laghima, Garima, Mahima, Easatva, Vasatva, Praakamya which is further surrounded by 16 petals representing the 10 sense organs of perception namely Smell, Taste, Sight, Touch, Hear which are inward senses & Initiation, Creation, Action, Feeling, Speaking which are outward senses, 5 petals symbolize the elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air & Ether & the last petal represents the mind’s ability which integrates all of these for our existence. In some traditions these 8 Petals surrounded by 16 Petals also represent the Ashtamatrikas (8 Devis) & Chausatyoginis (64 Yoginis). The three Circles surrounding the Petals represent the Trigunas Sattva, Rajas & Tamas. The 4 gates surrounding the Shree yantra represent the 4 Cardinal Directions. These borders are called Bhupura and this Avran is called Trilokya Mohana Chakra, the one who masters just this aspect of Shree Yantra is said to mesmerize the 3 worlds. Installing & Worshiping Shree Yantra at home is considered to be extremely meritorious.

The Shree Yantra is the emblem of Hindu tantra, which symbolizes the supreme goddess Shri Lalita Or Tripura Sundari, "the beauty of the three worlds" or Bhoo, Bhuva, and Swaha. Consequently, the Shree Yantra embodies the goddess, and the worship of the goddess is performed through the Shree Yantra. Mahadevi Tripura Sundari is chiefly revered in Shaktism, the Goddess-oriented sect of Hinduism. She is highly respected and praised in several Shakta texts with Lalita Sahasranama being a renowned one. She is also known to be the representation of Supreme Beauty. Indeed, she is said to be only 16 years old and therefore, is also just referred to as Shodashi, the sixteen-year-old. Tripura Sundari is one of the several manifestations of the divine Shakti, and hence She is the consort of Lord Shiva.

She is known to denote sixteen different kinds of urges. The Shodashi Tantra is a vital source of information about Tripura Sundari in Tripura. As per this source, Goddess Tripura Sundari is the light in the eyes of Lord Shiva. Apart from Tripura Sundari, she is also referred to as Goddess Shodashi, Goddess Kamesvari, Goddess Lalita and Goddess Rajarajeshvari. The Goddess is renowned as the Adi Mahavidya or Adi Shakti and denotes a complete version of reality. She is the embodiment of compassion and grace and she bestows unlimited blessings to its sincere devotees, the sum total of all gods and goddesses powers, which is represented by the magnificent Shree Yantra. Issues such as delay in marriage, marital problems and disharmony, infertility, poverty, debts, and many misfortunes can be rapidly alleviated by worshiping the Shree Yantra.

The Shree Yantra is the source of supreme energy, a Divine powerhouse of energy and magnetic powers. The energy emanated by the Shree Yantra effectively destroys all negative and unwanted energies present within the place where it is installed and replaces it with positive vibrations. How to Meditate on Shree Yantra? (Visualization Technique)

Meditating on the Shree Yantra is the most powerful way to achieve union with the diagram. Achieving the union is said to reveal all secrets of the world and one is supposed to gain access to knowledge of higher realms. In an oversimplified sense one must recreate the Shree Yantra diagram accurately in the mind and visualize it. This visualization technique may sound simple but is quite tough to achieve, one must spend years of sadhana just to create an accurate image of the diagram in their head.

One can start by sitting in a comfortable posture facing east with an accurate image of Shree Yantra at their Eye Level.

Perform Pranayama Anolom Vilom (Alternating nostril breaths) 10 times & meditate to purify your mind and thoughts.

Start by focusing on the Centre Point Bindu with your gaze going inward to outward from the Bindu to 1 Layer of triangle to 2nd Layer of triangles (Set of 6) to 3rd Layer of triangles (Set of 10) to 4th Layer of triangles (Set of 10) to 5th Layer of triangles (Set of 14) to 8 Petals to 16 Petals to Circle Border to the Outermost Gate (These are 9 Steps or Avaran of Shree Yantra)

Then your gaze should go from the Outermost Gate back to the Bindu.

Try to avoid blinking your eyes during this process. You can do this for multiple rounds for 30 minutes.

After you can focus with intent for at least 30 minutes (the stamina to just focus may take quite some time to develop) close your eyes and try to recreate the image of the Shree Yantra Diagram accurately

Once you can create and sustain an accurate image of Shree Yantra in your mind try to focus one by one on the 9 Steps mentioned above and go from Bindu to Outermost gate & Back to Bindu however all this needs to be done in your mind in meditation with your eyes closed

This visualization technique takes many years to master and bless the Sadhak with material success as well as spiritual augmentation.
