Ati Rudra Maha Yagna

In the Hindu philosophy, every Yagna is performed for a basic purpose. The particular deity who is invoked in the Yagna blesses the devotee performing the Yagna with their specific attributes. However, there is always some negative factor, danger, obstruction which needs to be removed or rather destroyed in order to move ahead in life easily and successfully.Lord Shiva, the Divine Cosmic energy that pervades all that exists, in His Rudra avatar is the embodiment of the destroyer. The One who is fierce and at the same time benevolent, loving and compassionate. Therefore, performing a Yagna by invoking Lord Rudra, can destroy/eliminate the unwanted factors which are causing hindrances in life to be blessed with beneficial outcomes.

Repeated chanting of the Sri Rudram and Chamakam while performing a fire sacrifice/ceremony or Yagna is called the Ati Rudra Maha Yagna. The Ati Rudra Maha Yagna/Yajna is one such Yagna/Homam which is considered one of the most sacred, powerful, effective and focused Maha Yagna. It is for dissolution of negative Karmas and removal of dangers and obstruction from the life path. Conducting the Athi Rudra Maha Yajna washes away one's sins and afflictions and brings peace, prosperity and happiness, along with family togetherness.

Ati Rudra Maha Yagna can be called a mega Yagna because of the elaborate scale in which it needs to be conducted. In Vedic rituals/rites, the chanting of Mantras/slokas/hymns forms an integral part. Ati Rudram comprises 14,641 repetitions of the Sri Rudram and Chamakam, which are lengthy and time consuming.

The Sri Rudram and Chamakam are from the mid portion of the Taittiriya Krishna Yajur Veda and also called Rudram Namakam Chamakam. The Namakam is from Chapter 16 of Yajur Veda and Chamakam is from Chapter 18 of the Taittiriya Krishna Yajur Veda. The Namakam/Sri Rudram are shlokas in praise of the attributes of Lord Rudra and Chamakam are shlokas which are chanted to invoke Rudra to fulfil the desires of the devotee.

The Ati Rudra Mahayagya is a continuous chanting of Sri Rudram and Chamakam while performing the Yagna to complete the 14,641 chants. These powerful sacred prayers are recited for removal of all malefic effects and difficulties and for all round benefits along with absolution of all sins and Karmas. By the power of Shri Rudram sickness becomes well, the unmarried find ideal mates, burden of debts are lifted away, wealth & power is showered, accidents, untimely death are evaded.During the Ati Rudra Maha Yagna regular and continuous recitation of all the four-Vedas (Rigved, Saamved, Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda), Ramayan of Tulsidas, Shri MadBhagwat (Original in Sanskrit) and Shivpuran will be done.
