Kanya Pujan also known as Kanjak. It is celebrated either on ashtami or navami (the eighth and ninth day) of Navratri. It is said that Maa Durga in the form of a young girl defeated the demon king Kalasura. It is believed that the young girls worshipped on this day are the forms of Goddess Durga. On this day the devotees who fast during Navartri break their after fast after feeding the young girls with traditional bhog – tender coconut.

The temple is known as Kamrup-Kamakhya Temple which is nestled on Nilachal Hill of Guwahati, Assam and is one of the oldest Shakti Pithas - one of the main pithas (sacred place) among fifty-one Saktipithas in the country. Kamakhya Temple is where the womb and the female sex organ of Goddess Sati fell; the temple holds a special significance for Shakti and Tantra Vidya sadhaks. The Kamakhya Temple and is significance is mentioned in various ancient texts. Kamakhya Devi, Goddess Shakti that resides on the Kamagiri hill is revered and worshipped as the fulfiller of all desires and granter of all wishes for Her devotees.

Avoid Eating Spicy Foods, Onion, Garlic, Non-Vegetarian on the day(s) of the puja.
Be in Meditative Mode. Try to minimize distractions.
As mentioned above it is possible that due to your hectic/busy lifestyle you may not be able to follow these instructions, which is okay, you will still receive the complete benefits of the puja.
